East Williston Women’s Softball: Wrapping Up a Summer of Fun, Friendship, and a Little Competition
By Tracy Sparacia and Marisa Reichman
What a fantastic summer it has been for the 2024 East Williston Women’s Softball season! From new faces joining the league to seasoned players hitting the field, this summer was all about community, camaraderie, and of course, a little friendly competition.
We kicked things off with a fun "Meet and Greet" on Tuesday, July 2nd at North Side Fields. It was the perfect way to start the season, giving everyone—especially the newbies—a chance to meet teammates and coaches, get a little softball action in, and simply hang out in a relaxed setting. New players, returning players, and curious spectators alike gathered to chat, laugh, and of course, play a little softball in whatever way we felt up to that evening. No pressure, just fun!
The season officially began on Tuesday, July 9th, and from that point on, every Tuesday night became a standing date for fun under the summer sky. We had six teams battling it out across the fields at North Side, Devlin, and Sagamore—and no matter where you were, there was always a mix of great play and even greater laughs.
Each week, the games kicked off promptly at 6 PM, but early birds got in some stretching and warm-ups. It was a summer filled with highlights—great plays, unexpected moments, and a whole lot of cheering from teammates and fans. With the sun shining, the bats swinging, and the air filled with excitement, the league was truly alive with a spirit of fun and friendly competition.
As always, the season ended with our final games on Tuesday, August 20th, followed by the much-anticipated end-of-season celebration. After the last out was called, we all gathered to enjoy delicious sandwiches, chicken fingers, snacks, and a delightful spread of shared dishes. A few drinks, lots of laughs, and some reminiscing over the best plays of the season made for a perfect wrap-up. The event was a wonderful reminder of what this league is all about—bringing together a diverse group of women, from first-time players to long-time softball lovers, to enjoy each other’s company and have a blast all summer long.
Thank you to everyone—players, coaches, and families—who made this season such a success. Your energy, enthusiasm, and dedication helped create a summer full of memories. Whether it was your first time on the field or you’ve been playing for years, we’re so grateful to have you as part of this amazing community.
Here’s to another summer of fun, friendship, and great softball! See you next year!
