East Williston’s 10th Village-Wide Tag Sale Set for September 21st

By Elise Vaidya

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21st, as the Village of East Williston celebrates its 10th Village-Wide Tag Sale!

This annual event, initiated in 2013 by a group of dedicated residents, provides a unique opportunity for every household within the village to hold a tag sale, an activity typically prohibited by Village Code.

Now in its tenth year, the tag sale continues to foster community spirit, bringing together neighbors, patrons, and members of surrounding communities for a day of sidewalk shopping, bargaining, and socializing.

Reflecting on my first year participating in the Village-Wide Tag Sale, I remember leaving my own sale to buy cookies and lemonade from two stands run by village children.

At my second stop, I found baby gates at a great price, enjoyed chatting with neighbors and witnessed our community's young entrepreneurs in action.

As a long-time resident, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and talking with neighbors throughout the village, purchasing some fantastic items, and watching the event grow. I've connected with other parents in the community and experienced the kindness of a family who donated their unsold children's books to my son, who treasures them.

The main reason I am involved in organizing the Tag Sale this year, is that it brings so much joy to participants and encourages residents to connect with each other on a (hopefully) beautiful day.

If you’re interested in participating, start setting aside items you no longer need or those that could use a new home. Register for the Tag Sale on September 21st here.

For those who may not sign up or our neighbors from surrounding communities, feel free to take a walk, drive, or bike ride around our beautiful village, chat with your neighbors, support the community, and hopefully find some great deals! We look forward to seeing you there!
