Williston Park is “A Great Place to Visit, a Better Place to Live”: From Paul Ehrbar, Mayor of Williston Park

Dear Residents,

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our Village employees for their hard work, which makes this Village as great as it is. While the Mayor and the Board provide direction, the staff makes it happen.

Our small Village, one-mile square, having approximately 7500 residents, provides activities and events throughout the year for all.

In August, The Neighborhood Watch Committee sponsors a National Night Out “Bike Ride” involving children and adults to bring awareness to maintaining a safe neighborhood for all.  This event will be held on August 6th at 7:00 pm beginning at Broad Street and Amherst and ending at Kelleher Field. The Committee Block Captains meet three to four times a year outside of this event to provide residents with awareness of ways to help maintain a safe Village for residents.  Also, in August, Village Appreciation Night is held at the pool honoring the volunteers and employees who work tirelessly for our residents. Beginning in June and going through September, Block Parties take place on a number of streets where children and adults spend a day and evening socializing with friends.

September the Chamber of Commerce organizes “Williston Day” which attracts both residents and non-residents alike – Each year it becomes larger and larger with number of attendees in the thousands.

The annual tree lighting takes place each December.  Our local Girl Scout Troops provide Christmas songs for the crowd.

The Williston Park VFW holds a ceremony on Veterans Day each year on Veterans Day, November 11th.

The 3rd floor of the Village Hall is used constantly by several groups (Welcome Wagon, Peaceful Patches, Historical Committee, Veterans, Exercise group) on a regular basis.

For a small Village, Williston Park is vibrant with many events taking place during the year.  The success and continuity of such events can be attributed to many dedicated volunteers.  If I’ve missed a few events, I apologize.

I want express my thanks to our service organizations, Fire Department, Auxiliary Police, Committee members, Volunteers and of course all of our staff, who work hard throughout the year to help make this great little Village great.

I encourage all not involved to get involved. “Together We are Making A Difference!”

On behalf of myself and the Village Board, we wish all a great Spring and Summer (don’t forget to sign up and join the Williston Park, Roger Fay Pool!)
