🚨 Police Alert: Beware of Tax Scams!

By Chris Orlando, Police Officer, 3rd Precinct POP Unit

Nassau County residents are being targeted by tax scammers through phone calls and emails demanding immediate payment. Remember, the IRS will NEVER call or email you asking for money—especially via gift cards, MoneyGram, or Western Union.

Common Scam Tactics:
❌ Scammers pose as IRS employees claiming you owe money.
❌ They threaten legal action, arrest, or lawsuits.
❌ They demand fast payments using multiple methods.

⚠️ If you receive a tax scam, DO NOT comply! Report it to your local police precinct or call 911 in an emergency. Stay informed and protect yourself this tax season!
