On Monday, November 25, 2024, the East Williston School District Special Education Parent Council (SEPC) brought creativity and connection to life with their Fall Event at the beautiful Old Westbury Gardens. The evening was a resounding success, with more than 30 parents from across the district coming together for a Floral Centerpiece Workshop.
Guests had the opportunity to unwind, express their creativity, and connect with fellow parents in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Participants designed stunning floral centerpieces, guided by provided materials, including fresh flowers, vases, and tools. The workshop catered to all skill levels, ensuring everyone—whether experienced or a first-timer—felt included and inspired.
"The Fall Floral Arrangement Event was a wonderful opportunity for parents, caregivers, and educators to come together in a creative and meaningful way. As participants designed their own floral arrangements, they not only engaged in a relaxing and enjoyable activity but also had the chance to connect with others in a shared space of collaboration and support,” said Dr. Lynn Mazza, Executive Director of Student Support Services in the East Williston School District.
"This event directly aligns with the mission of the East Williston Special Education Parent Council by fostering an environment of dialogue and partnership. By encouraging open communication and collaboration, the event helped strengthen the sense of community among families and educators, reinforcing our collective commitment to supporting all students in the educational process.”
The event also featured light refreshments, creating a warm and enjoyable environment for parents to socialize and strengthen bonds within the school community.
The East Williston SEPC expressed deep gratitude to Old Westbury Gardens for hosting and gifting this memorable experience to the community. The venue’s stunning setting added a touch of elegance to the evening, enhancing the overall sense of connection and creativity.
“We are also deeply grateful for the generous contribution of Old Westbury Gardens, whose beautiful venue and expert guidance helped make this event possible. Their support enriched the experience, providing a tranquil setting for connection and creativity." said Dr. Mazza.
Parents left the event with not only their beautiful centerpieces but also new friendships and a sense of appreciation for the supportive community fostered by SEPC. The event truly captured the spirit of creativity and collaboration that defines the East Williston School District.
SEPC looks forward to hosting more events that bring the community together and inspire meaningful connections.
