Building Bonds Through Baseball: Wheatley Varsity Team Volunteers with East Meadow Challenger League

By Bernadette Quinn

The Wheatley varsity baseball team dedicated their time to volunteering with the East Meadow Challenger baseball league. On a sunny day on April 28, the team served as buddies, and assisted the younger players in hitting off the tee, having a catch, and learning different fielding positions.

The Challenger League, a special part of the East Meadow Baseball/Softball Association, provides a baseball environment for children with special needs, offering them the opportunity to play ball and experience friendly and fun competition.

Run entirely by volunteers, this league welcomes community participation, with many East Meadow players from baseball and softball joining in on game days to assist Challenger players and enjoy the fun.
