Students from The Wheatley School and North Side School, both part of the East Williston Union Free School District, recently came together for a fun and engaging Spanish learning experience.

Led by members of The Wheatley School’s Spanish Club and Intro to Spanish classes, third and fourth graders explored the names of animals in Spanish through interactive activities like choral repetition, singing, charades, and team challenges. The collaborative session not only made language learning exciting but also strengthened connections between younger and older students.

“This experience allowed Wheatley students to exercise their creativity, leadership, and language skills while creating a fun, immersive lesson for our eager North Side learners,” said Faith Tripp, Director of World Languages and English as a New Language.

For the older students, seeing the younger learners light up with excitement made the experience especially rewarding. The North Side students were so engaged that they were already asking when their new mentors would return before the lesson had even ended!
