Highlander Pride Shines: Herricks High School Athletes Bring Homecoming Wins, Playoff Hopes, and a Historic State Championship

It’s been an exciting fall sports season at Herricks High School and with the end of the season fast approaching, Herricks athletes have been putting on their A-game and showing their Highlander Pride. 

Highlander Spirit Ignites at Homecoming

Kicking off the season with a bang, Herricks High School celebrated Homecoming in style, with pep rallies, festivities, and an impressive football victory over the Hicksville Comets. Quarterback Troy Madden led the charge, helping secure a 55-33 win for a three-peat Homecoming triumph.

Football Team Eyes Playoff Berth

With a current 3-4 record, the Herricks football team faces Plainview - Old Bethpage JFK on November 2, aiming for a win that could secure a playoff spot. The season’s thrilling performances continue to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Boys Varsity Volleyball Advances in Playoffs

After a hard-fought season, the Boys Varsity Volleyball team claimed victory over Great Neck North, advancing to the Nassau Division I quarterfinals. They’re set to face No.1 seed Massapequa on November 6, bringing hope for a strong playoff run.

Girls Varsity Swim Team Excels in Division Championship

The Herricks Girls Varsity Swim Team placed 2nd in their division, with standout performances by Natalie Wu, who qualifies for the state meet, and teammates who will join her in the relay. The team looks ahead to the Nassau County Championship with high hopes.

Angel Walia Becomes Herricks’ First State Tennis Champion in 43 Years

Senior Angel Walia made history at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, clinching the New York State Girls Singles Tennis State Title. After six years on Varsity, Walia’s perseverance and skill led to a thrilling victory that will go down in Herricks history.

Winter Sports Season on the Horizon
